I have to close with one final story - THIS WAS AWESOME... A new Christian missionary (a former Mormon) showed up on the pageant streets this past week and he was carrying a white cross which was about 6 feet tall. He would walk around and in a very good natured way approach LDS people and say, "Jesus died on the " Then he would point to the cross and expect them to finish the sentence - "Cross". He would then point at them and with a big smile on his face he would say, "For your sins! Yes, Jesus died on the cross for your sins."
In one situation he approached a young LDS man who had just finished his mission. When he went through his little witnessing method with this RM (returned Mormon Missionary) the guy said, "Yes, we teach that. We believe Jesus died on the cross." So the Christian asked, "Have you ever taken up the cross for the sake of Jesus?" The RM looked unsure and asked, "What do you mean?" The Christian said, "Will you take the cross of Jesus upon yourself?" The RM said, "Okay and he put the cross on his shoulder." Then the Christian said, "You will now receive reproach from your own people for taking the cross of Jesus upon yourself." The RM said, "No... We believe in the cross. I will prove it to you, I will carry the cross onto the temple grounds." The Christian said, "If you do, you will understand the reproach of the cross - they will not let you take the cross through those gates." The RM said,"Yes they will, just watch."
He then proceeded toward one of the entrances to the temple grounds. Immediately a swarm of LDS security rushed toward him and said, "You are NOT bringing that thing in here." The RM tried to explain, "I'm a member of the LDS church, I have just returned from my mission. We believe Jesus died on the cross, why can't I carry a cross onto the temple grounds?" The LDS security said, "If you pass through that gate we will have you arrested!" The RM returned the cross to the Christian and with a shocked expression on his face said, "You were right." Wow, what a vivid lesson that must have taught that young LDS man.
