After a day of preaching at Weber State University we were standing in the lobby of the student union and my friend Jordan was standing on a skateboard when these five teenagers walked out of the elevator... Jordan said, "Hey! Can you show me how to ollie?" So then six guys are trying to ollie in the lobby of the union and then I walk downstairs and see this sight and decided to try to kickflip. I used to skateboard a lot when I was younger and actually bought a skateboard to bring with me this year on the road. After, we walked outside and continued talking...
One of the young guys who was 18 was named Ryan Sheckler. Him and 4 of his friends were skateboarding. I had no idea who he was, he said he was a pro skateboarder with his own TV show. He asked me if I had ever heard of him or his show. To be honest I really didn't believe him but then he showed me his own brand of board, shoe, tee shirts... I looked him up when I got home and sure enough, it is the same guy. It turns out that he is one of the best young skateboarders around. For a kid who has probably millions of dollars, he had to bum a dollar off my friend Jordan to buy a coke. I tried to give him a big money tract but he declined. He and his friends heard the whole gospel though.
