Ahmadinejad Calls U.S. 'Satanic,' Israel 'About to Die'Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad predicted that Muslims would uproot “satanic powers” and reaffirmed his prediction that the Jewish state will soon be wiped off the map, the Agence France-Presse news agency reported Monday. "I must announce that the Zionist regime (Israel), with a 60-year record of genocide, plunder, invasion and betrayal is about to die and will soon be erased from the geographical scene," Ahmadinejad said. These are rather chilling statements, aren't they ? Of course God is in control and these plans would need to fit within his timetable for Israel, but maybe they portend events that will unfold in the latter days. I remember reading about how when the modern State of Israel first came into being, a number of nations were arrayed against her and attempted to surround her and 'push her into the sea', so to speak, but then through a miraculous turn of events, these plans were thwarted !
In Jesus, John p.s. One story I've heard (I can't verify the historicity of it but read about it in a book)...
There is a prophesy about a very large gate in Israel ( I always forget...is it the Eastern gate or the Western gate ?). At any rate this gate is prophesied to never be opened until Christ returns. According to this story, at one point an attempt was made to open up this gate. However the British general (general Allenby) issued an order for the attempt to open this gate to be stopped. As the name 'Allenby' was perceived by these people (Turkish possibly) as "obey Allah" the people trying to open up the gate, decided they better follow these orders, and put away their jackhammers.
Again, I can't say for sure whether this story is true. It did sound interesting though :-)
