Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Sometimes I think it can be of great benefit to take stock of some of the ways in which God has proven his faithfulness to us over the years. By sharing these experiences, this can be a source of encouragement to other believers. So what are some ways God has answered prayers in your life, or in the lives of your friends and family members ? How else has God proven himself faithful on your behalf, over the years ? In His love, John p.s. I like the message of this song : www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmQMP9S9Q2M

Hi Guys, Maybe I’ll start things off I want to start by saying that I consider myself blessed to have a mom who is passionate about prayer and who has set a Godly example for me. I remember back when we were thinking about moving to Mississauga, near Toronto. She asked God for a confirmation that the house we were considering was the one we should buy. So she asked God for direction from his Word and he led her to a scripture she had never seen before in her life. It said, “I took the deed and I signed it”. Then she asked for further confirmation and was led to a scripture that said, “Buy my field”. The name of the street we ended up living on ? Fieldgate drive. Another time, she prayed for someone for God to heal their emotions. When she talked to this person later that day, he said that he had been crying while driving in his car. This was something he’d rarely ever experienced before in his life. God has also shown my wife and I his gracious protection over our kids’ lives over the years. One summer, we were at a church camp meeting, and before the service ended my wife told me she had a feeling that we should leave the meeting early (This is something she had never done before, and has never done since that day). When we crossed the road, to the area of the camp where my son Eric was taking part in a kids program, we suddenly came across Eric walking on his own, on the road. He had somehow gotten out of the building where the kids program was being held. This happened during the time when the leaders were escorting kids upstairs for a bathroom break. Praise God for looking after my son by speaking to my wife ! Then a few years ago, I’d been working downstairs in my home office. My wife and I have dual handset cordless phones, and whenever I wanted to talk to her about something, normally I’d call upstairs to her on the phone. But for some reason, one day I decided to come to the bottom of the stairs, to talk to her from there instead. Now what should I see when I got there but my son Daniel, wearing a plastic bucket on his head, about to tumble down the stairs !! Knowing my wife to be in the kitchen, and within ‘grabbing distance’ of my son, I called for her to come quickly. So she did, and prevented Daniel from suffering what would have been a terrible accident. Again, I believe God had prompted action at just the right time, and showed himself to be our shield and defender ! Does anyone else have a story they’d like to share ? In Jesus, John

In Jesus, John I'm really blessed too by the wonderful relationship you have with your wife. It always blesses me to see one spouse recognizing the gift of the other spouse. I am trying to think of specific instances. Both I and my husband have been very thankful when one of us has heard from God and the other decided to take heed to it. There have also been times when we didn't and paid the price for that too. Mostly as far as for me goes the Lord has gifted me many times with being able to discern others and warn my husband of them. My husband mostly has been given specific words of direction from God.

Hi Rebecca, That's really neat to hear how you and your husband have had those times of hearing from God that you've been able to share together Yes, my wife is a huge blessing in my life ! She is definitely an answer to many prayers. I'm very thankful to the counsel people gave me to wait for God's best for my life. I remember the moment when I realized that she was the right one for me. I was driving down the road with her and she started to sing a song that her dad made up that goes with a passage from Isaiah. In that moment I saw her beauty and God's beauty truly knit together. In Jesus, John

I'm hoping that some others may have something they'd like to share, as I wouldn't want to see this thread with just stuff from me LOL !
Here's another incident in my life where I really sensed God's gracious comfort and encouragement :
One day, I had been facing a real sense of heaviness. I had sensed that it was oppression from the wicked one and I spoke out strongly, taking authority over him in Jesus name. I had been feeling like some of the physical struggles with health issues and other battles I'd been facing, had been overwhelming me. After praying the prayer that I prayed, first of all God brought a new understanding in my spirit about what I was going through. Then, the same day, someone shared the following words which Spurgeon wrote which seemed to me as if they had been dropped straight from heaven :
"And the Lord turned the captivity of Job." Beloved brother in Christ, you have had a long captivity in affliction. God has sold you into the hand of your adversaries, and you have wept by the waters of Babylon, hanging your harp upon the willows. Despair not ! He who turned the captivity of Job can turn yours as the streams in the south. He shall make your vineyard to blossom and your field to yield her fruit again. You shall again come forth with those who rejoice, and once more shall the song of gladness be on your lips. Let not despair rivet its cruel fetters about your soul. Hope yet, for there is hope. Trust thou still for there is ground of confidence. He shall bring you up from the land of your captivity, and you shall say of Him, Thou has turned for me my mourning into dancing" (Psalm 30:11)
(This is from a book called, ' The Power of Prayer in a Believer's life')
