Here is Romans 1 according to the Greek... I compared with the KJV and found a tremendous difference so I translated Romans 1 as it is in the Greek, within the context of a "thought-for-thought" rendering... I'm curious as to why the KJV translators omitted so much!
If one simply goes to the Greek, which is readily available for anyone, the same Greek the KJV translators used, the differences are quite astounding!
Romans 1
Rom 1:1 My name is Paul and I am a Servant of Jesus Christ, invited and appointed to be a Messenger, separated to the Good News of God,
Rom 1:2 (Which He promised long ago in the Bible by His Prophets who speak by the Holy Spirit,)
Rom 1:3 Concerning His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born into the Family Line of David;
Rom 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of Holiness, by the Resurrection from the dead:
Rom 1:5 By Him we have been given the favour of God and the Apostleship, for obedience to the reliance on Jesus Christ for Salvation among everyone from every place, for His Name:
Rom 1:6 Among whom you are also the invited and appointed of Jesus Christ:
Rom 1:7 To all that are in Rome, Dearly Loved of God, invited and appointed to be physically and morally pure: The Favour and Peace of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Rom 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, that your reliance upon Christ is talked about all over the whole world!
Rom 1:9 God is my witness, who I serve with my spirit in the Good News of His Son, that without interruption and without omission I remember you and make mention of you in my prayers;
Rom 1:10 Pleading with God, that somehow, sometime, I might be successful in coming to you by the Determination of God.
Rom 1:11 For I greatly desire to see you so that I may give over to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be steadfastly set and strengthened;
Rom 1:12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by our mutual reliance on Jesus Christ.
Rom 1:13 Now I don’t want you to be unaware of this, Brothers, that many times I determined to come to you, (but was kept from doing so,) that I might have some fruit among you, even as other Non Jews.
Rom 1:14 I’m indebted both to Greeks and Non Greeks; both to the wise and to the unwise.
Rom 1:15 So, as much as is in me, I am ready and willing to bring, preach, declare and announce the Good News to you who are at Rome also!
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ: for those who believe, it is the Power of God that both physically and morally rescues, saves, delivers and heals; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek!
Rom 1:17 For therein is the Righteousness of God revealed, from reliance on Christ to reliance on Christ: as it is written, “The innocent and holy ones will live their lives by reliance on Christ.
Rom 1:18 For the violent passion of God is revealed from Heaven against all wickedness and injustice and moral wrongness of those who hold down the truth in the same way that they live, in injustice and moral wrongness;
Rom 1:19 Because that which is known about God is apparent in them because God has made it apparent to them.
Rom 1:20 For the things that are invisible that were made by God from the creation of the world are clearly seen, because they are understood by the things that are seen, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they have no excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because, when they were absolutely sure of God they didn’t honour Him as God and they weren’t grateful but they became foolish, morally wicked and idolatrous in their thoughts, and their unintelligent and wicked minds were darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became foolish,
Rom 1:23 And they changed the dignity, honour, praise and worship of the immortal God into a statue and representation of decayed and perishable man and to birds and to fourfooted beasts, and creeping things like reptiles, small animals and serpents!
Rom 1:24 Because of this, God gave them up to physical and moral impurity through the longing of evil thoughts and feelings, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the Truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the created thing right beside the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonourable and reproachful and shameful evil passions. Even their women did things with their bodies that are against nature!
Rom 1:27 Similarly, the men left the natural use of the woman and deeply burned in their lustful excitement and longing for other men; men with men accomplishing indecent and shameful acts and fully receiving in themselves, because it was necessary, the compensation for being fraudulent, deluded and for straying from what they knew was right!
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not approve of holding God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a morally unapproved, rejected, castaway and worthless mind, to do those things which are never to be done;
Rom 1:29 Being filled to the full with all, any and every moral evil of character, life and deed, sexual sin of every kind including incest, adultery, sex sins with animals, the worship of idols, evil purposes and desires, greedy desire to have more, desire to injure, evil that is not ashamed to break laws; full of ill-will and jealousy, murder, quarrels, contention, debate and strife, deceit, bad character and mischievousness; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, prideful people who heap insults on others or who do others some shameful act of wrong, people who lift themselves up above everyone else, braggers, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, unintelligent, wicked and foolish, promise breakers, without natural affection and unloving, truce breakers, merciless:
Rom 1:32 Though these people know the judgement of God on those who practice things like these, that such people are deserving of death, not only do they themselves do the same, but they take pleasure in and feel gratified when they see others practicing such things!
