I just finished a book titled the Bible or the Ax.It's a true story about the life of Hebrew Christians living and suffering for their faith in the Sudan. The title is in referance to when the author was preparing for baptism. The elders of the church do not take it lightly so there is a trial period when they watch the person who has made a profession of faith. And then either right before the author was baptized or immediately after he was asked by the elder a question."IF you are facing an enemy who is ready to slay you right now, which would you use the Bible or the Ax." When he chose the Bible he was approved. But he said it was hard because he was envisioning all the atrocities their enemies did to his people, but then he remembered the words ,"my kingdom is not of this world, for then would my servants fight..." I wanted toknow if anyone has read this book, and their thoughts on believers fighting in self defense.

The author of the book is William O.Levi, who after meeting the founder of the Voice of the Martyrs, was inspired to found Operation Nehemiah Missions International. My apologies as I misquoted the author. The verse that came to mind when he had to choose between the Bible or the Ax was "for our struggle is not against flesh and blood.",again sorry for the misquotation.
