As many of you probably know, three of the biggest creationist ministries, Answers in Genesis and Creation Ministries International regularly visit various churches around Canada, the USA, Australia etc etc. Some of you have probably seen their seminars at your own churches. I'm a huge fan, and I try to attend their seminars whenever they have them in my city. Matter of fact, they're coming to Halifax on March 31st and April 1st (which is rather appropriate if you think about it). Check www.creationontheweb.com for time and dates - I'll be there!
I especially love the Q&A sessions at the end of them and love browsing through the wares at the book table. I've read several of them. Good fun.
What disheartens me the most about the Q&A sessions is the usually utter lack of understanding about evolutionary biology that the congregations usually display. Mind you, this of course serves the purpose of the ministry perfectly, as they generally don't count on an actual biologist attending (not even an undergrad student majoring in biology, or any science for that matter). That's where I fly in to fill in the gaps with some relevant questions. It's always educational for me, and I love to ask and be asked the difficult questions. Hey, it keeps the mind sharp. It's a learning experience for everyone involved, and it's fun!
So, in browsing around for some good material I could put together to help clear up some misunderstandings about what evolution IS and IS NOT, I came across these beauty little websites. I think it will be helpful. I have a passion for truth, so that's why I'm making the effort.
And because I love you all. ;-)
