I rededicated my life to the Lord today. I have been reading David Brainerd's biography and it really inspired me. I once walked really close to the Lord but the further I walked the lonlier and scarier it was for me being led into the wilderness. It can be a frightening thing for the believer to be led into the wilderness if you are not clinging to the Lord. You have to face your worse fears. The things you dread most is what you can always expect even your worse nightmares. Worse of all at times you feel like the Lord is not with you things can become so bad. It strips you of everything and leaves you clinging to nothing but the Lord because even the last thread you have to hang onto the Lord will eventually take from your hand until you have nothing left but Him alone, that is what the Lord wants from us. I think the worse thing of all is when you feel alone and everyone and everything is accusing you then you cry out to God but the heavens seem like brass. Even when you are married your own spouse can be there for you but cannot walk with you through it because it is your own spiritual journey between you and the Lord.
When I read David Brainerd's testimony though that is what I needed to hear; just someone to relate to even though I haven't even scratched the surface of what that man has been through.
Completely dying to yourself is a much different walk than just being the average christian and I dont want to be an average christian. I really want all of Him and none of me. I don't just want to talk about religion and agree with the more mature that things in the church are bad. Please pray for me. Thanks.

Hi Rebecca,
I thought of this Scripture: "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." (Hebrews 13:5-6) And, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)
Many times it doesn't feel that God is with us, but we have His Word on it! It's never about our feelings (though when they come it is indeed wonderful) but it's about His faithfulness. We may boldly trust in His faithfulness.
Never forget that God is always dedicated to His children!
Blessings, -Eli

When I used to walk much closer to the Lord I often found that I had to pray often because the trials were so difficult. I thought I was too weak because I had to pray so much. Now that I read about how these men of God had to pray for hours I just realized that this is a normal thing and that I should not be alarmed of the fact that a christian who desires to walk closely with the Lord has to pray often. Reading about David Brainerd, was a real encouragement to me. Now I know if I find myself constantly driven to my prayer closet that it is normal and that I am just coming face to face with my own weakness. I believe it is the spirit of God at these times that drives us to pray.

My only focus should be on staying right with God and that He will take care of the rest of that. Prayer is a beautiful thing!
