Last weekend, we broke in our tent trailer for the camping season and went camping with some new friends we've made at our new church. It was a really great time, getting to know this couple and sharing about the things of God. I had hoped we'd have a chance to hold a mini church service at our camp site and invite some other campers to it. We did hold one among ourselves, and it was a real blessing. Although ministry didn't take place to any of the adults of the campground, we did feel that God used us to share Christ with a 9 year old boy, named Kade. Please pray for him.
Kade and our 2 boys played soccer together nearly the entire weekend. It's amazing the energy levels that kids have ! When it came time to do our nightly devotions with the kids, we invited Kade to come. He kept saying over and over again, "A Bible story, what's that all about ?" He listened well when it came time to do our 'Bible story' which consists of a book that has 365 stories in it, each of which starts off with a scripture passage that is brought alive through the story. My wife chose a story which was categorized under the topic of 'salvation' in the book.
The next day, I have to admit I was surprised to see Kade again attending our 'Bible story time'. Again, my wife chose a story which focussed on salvation. What was interesting though was the content of this story this night (which she hadn't chosen). The story was about a boy who played soccer, and soccer, in my estimation, is pretty much the controlling passion of Kade's life.
Please pray that the Holy Spirit will take away Kade's heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh, that loves God and seeks to please him.
In Jesus,
John
