The other day I had a conversation with a close friend who doesn't yet believe. We've had many good talks about the Gospel. As we began talking about sin and standing before a righteous God, he went to original sin and used it as an excuse "Well, if I'm born in sin and wicked, then I don't have a choice but to sin and it's not my fault." It's almost like saying, "I was just born American, so you can't punish me for it." Of course being born in sin doesn't excuse our sin. Sin is still sin and God still punishes it, otherwise there would be no reason for Jesus. In a way I can see his line of thinking though. Have any of you come across this? I'm curious to how you might answer this in the simplest way. Thoughts?
