www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,26355126-421,00.html Notice NEW AGE used at the very beginning of the article just below the title. In Australia they are actually naming what these churches are now. In America, New Age is hidden behind the title of a church deceptively.

Come on, get real. There's absolutely nothing in that article linking that church to the "New-Age" movement that you're imagining it to be. I doubt very much that that's what they're promoting. They've used the colloquial definition of the term to describe what's supposed to be a more "hippified" version of the church (i.e. - one that doesn't use tired and worn out old hymns from the 18th century played on an organ). They pop of from time to time. There's one in my city, but it's hardly what you'd call New-Age (as in pertaining to the "New-Age" movement a la Shirley MacLeane). Perhaps you should look up their church's website if you can find it, and base your assessment on their actual teachings, instead of seeing a scary term that you dislike, and having a kneejerk reaction to it. In fact, I'll find it for you... here's a link to the part of their site where they list the "what we believe" statement: www.metro-church.org/site/about_believe.cfmLet me know if you find anything objectionable there, and next time, do some more research, ok? ;D

Hi Mitchie: I looked into that church you gave the link for and it appears to be ok. All and all it looks like they have a good program going. Haven't heard the preaching but what they believe is ok. I'll look at that article further, but in reality New Age is invading the church today with all kinds of weird stuff. Such as yoga meditation, mysticism, contemplative the worse of it etc. Here's some more info from that article. www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,26353896-952,00.html Evidently, the music is hardly godly or glorifying God according to people's opinions here. I agree. God is a holy God and the rock music they play is of the devil; we know that. And if you want me to expound on that I'll be glad to. It's devilish and I'm not square. It has no place in a church to attract people. It is God that gives the increase, not "rock music".

Are you sure that site isn't a parody? I thought it was a parody site, because most of the site is pretty disgusting. I've read the article about rock music before, but the part that got me rolling on the floor (perhaps in a different article) was when the author claimed that the Beatles advocated communism.

The Beatles corrupted an entire generation. As a young woman with a family, I witnessed what happened to the teens and college age kids that ran after this group. Whatever their motives were, these guys served the devil. They did follow Crowley, a man who served Satan big time. They ended up like they lived and sang about. :'(

They ended up like they lived and sang about. :'( Which was what exactly? Can you think of any Beatles lyrics that have offended you so off the top of your head?

This is the reason Rock music has absolutely NO place in the body of Christ in churches. The devil is behind it. As per rock music I would have to disagree depending on the rock music being played. Take, for example, Casting Crowns. Their music is labeled rock and yet is clearly and evidently used by God to touch lives and call Prodigals back home etc. Another example is Third Day, which is clearly Rock music. Their music has done the same by God's Grace. God uses far more than our personal tastes

Oh see, Dan, now even I disagree with you. We all know that the Lord generally only likes hymns played on the organ. Sometimes, though, he enjoys the occasional southern gospel quartet when He's feeling sassy.
He may even tune in and watch the Gaither program from time to time.

Man I love the Gaithers! David Phelps is my fav I like when they do the bluegrass stuff the most. I'm not really crazy about when they have the huge crowd on stage. Remember the Hemphills? I'd like to see the whole family get back together on that show sometime.

Hi Dan: I was thinking more hard rock that is being played in churches. There's nothing wrong with Third Day for instance. To answer your question Mitchie, as a younger Christian woman; I only saw the fruit of the Beatles. Teens getting into drugs and immorality as these men did also. They ended up as they lived and sang. I don't know the words, I only saw what affect they had on a whole generation.

You can't make a sweeping statement that they 'ended up as they lived and sang' without providing context. EVERYone ends up 'as they live', how exactly can you say they 'ended up as they sang' if you don't know what they sang about? As it happens, I don't care what music you like or don't like, really.

Your right Mitchie, it doesn't matter what music I like; that's not the issue. I did a little research online and one song they sang was "Devil in her heart". I wouldn't want the devil in my heart. To be filled with darkness, which the devil is.
It's better to walk in the light as he is in the light.

Ok, well, first of all, 'Devil in Her Heart' is not acually about literally have the 'devil' in one's heart. It's actually just an expression. Haven't you heard that expression when someone's being bad or hard to handle etc.? "That boy/girl's got the devil in him/her"? You'll have to do more research. And it wasn't even their song either! And even if it DID mean what you think it means, it's not like they were advocating satanism or something. Any others?
